Vegetable Cutlets-An any time snack liked by everyone.


The vegetable cutlet is a very popular&tasty snack very popular all over India especially in Mumbai city. It is neither A break fast snack nor specified for lunch or dinner. It is an alltme snack.in most of the cities it is available anytime irrespective of peak time or lean time. Generally Vegetable cutlet can be taken along with tomato Ketch-up or Tamarind Sauce. In Kerala home made cutlets are also taken along with a sweetish dish called " Puliyinchi"a combination of Tamarind & ginger.some people take cutlet with some special chutneys also depending upon individual tastes. There are some expert housewives who make their own variety of cutlets using leftover dishes.these cutlets are also not lower in taste as compared to typical traditional cutlets that are generally made. The ingredients required for Vegetable Cutlets: ************************************************ The simple Cutlets made out of potetoes are very tasty and filling.it is some kind of a warm experience to eat traditional cutlet made basically with Potatoes. The following are the ingredients generally used for Vegetable Cutlets though there would be minor differences from place to place.But basically they are one at the same. In order to serve a family of three persons the following quantities are sufficient.According to the increased number of person ,the quantities can be increased proportionately. 2 Potatoes (Cooked). 1 Cup green peas. 1 cup of soya granules or Bread(Soaked in water,squeezed & crushed) 1 Table spoonCream 1 Teaspoon Chilly powder. 1 Teaspoon Garam Masala( optional ) 5 Strands Corriander leaves. 1 Table spoon Courn flour or Maida. 1Cup fine Rava( Suji) Oil & Butter as required Salt as required. METHOD OF PREPERATION: ************************ Mash potatoes & peas Add all the remaining ingredients except Suji and oil Make a ball with this Mixture and give desired shape with hands.Apply sooji(Rava)to all sides of shaped cutlet. If dipped in well beaten egg the before applying shoji it will stick well to the sides of the cutlet(optional for Those who take eggs) Deep fry theseCutlets until they turn into brownish color. Now cutlet is ready.it can be served hot along with Mint chutney,Tomato ketch-up,Tamarind sauce or traditional "Puliyinji " in Kerala. This is one of the easily made disshes with maximum taste & demand.Children would love it. So try this today for a change Sreedharan Mundanat. 9th May2015

  1. In this Blog whereever there is a mention about " Puliyinji" please consider the ingredients to make it are Ginger,Tamarind& Jaggery as a combination.
    Inadvertently I had excluded Jaggery and hence this humble correction.
    The error is deeply regretted.
