THE ENIGMACTIC "KALLANA"

On 2nd February 2013 I had written. Blog on Kallana(The Dwarf Elephant) based on Media reports . It has now been confirmed that the Dwarf Elephant found in Peppara by the local people in a painful & mysterious condition was not the legendary Kallana but an ordinary small elephant .this has been confirmed By the Forest Department of the Kerala State according to a report appeared in the Mathrubhumi Malayalam Edition of news paper Dt 3rd March 2013 in the THIRUVANANTHAPURAM EDITION. It says that the DNA of the small Elephant Was examined with reference to the DNA of the Tissues of the Specimen collected from the forest elephants from the different forest regions of Nilambur& Thirunelli besides the DNA of the tamed elephant from Thrissur .The DNA OF THE Specimen collected matched with the DNA of the Dwarf Elephant found at Peppara. This process it appears has confirmed beyond doubt that the Dwarf Elephant found.The mystery stated to be Behind the Mysterious Dwarf elephant thus stands as clarified. Every gentleman/ Lady desirous of knowing more about the history of Kallana might like to approach the Forest Department of Kerala.in case any one could throw more light on the issue may also please make it clear to me also as a comment on this or my earlier Blog of 2nd February 2013.I am also equally interested in knowing More about KALLANA.Every one who is interested in the matter further might also like to be in touch with the Chief Wildlife Warden of the Forest Department of Kerala..
