Quadrangular under 19 tournament at Trivsndrum

On 11th of March 2019,the final of the quadrangular Tournament was held at the Green field Stadium between India under 19A & B. Under 19 B team won the toss and wisely elected to bat. A.Sethi and Tilak Varma opened the innings.A.sethi was ,however unlucky to become caught behind after facing 14 balls without scoring.The Bowler wasAkash Singh.score card 8/1. The game progressed .V.S.Lavande who joined Till Varma returned to pavlion in the 10th overfor 7runs again caught behind by Jurel b. Tyagi.The score was 28/2. Next to come to crease wasRSChandrol.in the 18th overTilak Varma also returned to Pavilion after scoring a very useful 38runs with 3fours by facing 54 balls.Thescore card read a very healthy score of 71/3. The new batsman joined in the middle was Smeer Rizvi. In the meantime RSChandrol made a glorious 70 runs from 74 balla with the help of 4fours and 2sixes in the company of Rizvi.However he was out when the score was 170/4.itcwas 38th over.In the 43rd over Rizvi also fellwith 67 runs to his credit(4fours&1six) The score card read 199/5.Thereafter wickets fell rapidly .The innings of India B ended at 232/9 .A very healthy score.The IndiA needed 240 to win from 50 overs. The innings of India A began with Iqbal and Veer as openers.Before scoring 15 runs both fell. Theresfter wickets began falling in quick successions without offering a reasonable fight. S.Hegde with 42 runs,Jaiswal and Rawat both 27 each only could offer resistance. Otherwise it was just like the previous ganmme between them. indiaA surrendered at in 39 over with just 160 all out. The final was won by India under19 B. Altogether the tournament was a great success being the first time schedule a competition was staged in Trivandrum. The 4th onedayer in the 5 match series-India vs Australia

The series between Australia & India is on a challenging mode after Australia won the match at Ranchi on 8 th of March 2019. India leading 2-1,the 4th onedayer is of a challenging nature India needing a win to claim the series and Australia to level it with a view to wining it on 13th March in the decider ifbthe win today. This makes the series more challenging for bothbthe teams. India retained the team minus DHONI who allowed rest while Rishab Pant replaced him behind the stumps with gloves. Australia retained their winning combination of 10 th March at Ranchi. The weather being sunny ,the game began on time. The toss which was vital today won by Virat Kohli and promptly elected to bat at ISBindra Stadium MOHALI in Punjab. The openers for a change began playing cautiously.Rohit Sharma kept the vigil while Shikar Dhavan adopted aggressive role to keep score card moving rapidly unlike previous games. In 22 overs both kept he scorechealthy with 130/0 with Dhavan 78 with 10 fours and i six while Rohit Sharma remained on 50 with 1 six and 3?fours. In the 31st over Rohit Sharma was caught by Handscomb b Richardson five runs short of 100 from 92 balls.(7 Fours and 2 sixes).the score atvthis stagecwas 193/1 The game progressed after LokeshvRahul joined Dhavan in the middle.On completion ofv36 overs the score board showed Board showed 233/1. the further progress of the match is crucial for India . The present trend of 254/2 in 37.4 overs when Dhavan got out with a well deserving 143 from 115 balls with18fours and 3 Sixes,would appear to be verybcompetitive. The present trend of 12 overs still to play India might reach theRegion of 350+ in 50 overs. With 12 overs still remaining India is likely to finish the 50 overs in the region of 350+. Finally India finished the the first outing for 356/9 with Bumrah sending the lastball over the fence. Australia needs 357 runs to win. Although they lost wickets of Around Finch and Shawn Marsh cheaply ,they are still trying hard to find the rarget. At the moment being 117/2,the required run rate is just over 8 runs per over. This might look difficult but not next to impossible. Unless Indian Bowlers rise to the occasion and bowl exemplarioy well ,nothing can be taken for granted as Cricket is a Glorious Game of Uncertainty. Australia crossed 200.still no further loss of wickets. The RRR at present is over 9 per over. The progress is commendable. The wicket of most dangerous batsman Khawaja claimed by Bumrah as a catch by Kuldeep yadav forv91 glorious runs. Australia progressed steadily and crossed 300 easily. And finally met the targetwith a glorious 358/6 with 13 balls to spare. This was an exemplarily expert fight from Down under in the recent past. The quarts gulag under19 series match to be played toda at Trivandrum today was held on today promptly. The first match today at st Xaviers Ground was between indaA under 19& India B under 19 teams. The match was a surprising event in every respect . First team to use bat was India A. Their score was surprisingly low as compared to previous matches. Just three batsmen found double digit individual scores. They were Y.Jaiswal 30,Dhruv jurel 40,&Harsh dubey 23. They were all out in 40.3 overs for a very blow score of 129 . The under19 B had an easy target of 130 in 50 overs @2.6 runs per over. Arya Sethi 51 with 8 fours from 52 balls ,A.ankolekar with 29,&P.Tyagi 14, togetherbwithbthe single digit scores from others found home by scoring 130 in just41.4 overs and won the match handsomely. Match between South Africa under 19 & Afganistan under 19 : ************************************************************** This match for the Third position was of no much interest as bothbthe teams had lost both their earlier Matches without collecting anynpoints. Today's match between them was to decide the third position in the match at Green field Stadium in Trivandrum. South Africa who was to bat first did their best and scored 200 runs From49.5 overs. Afganistan in reply could make just 191 from 40.5 overs Thus S.Africa won the third position match. New Arrival in Cricket

One would be wondering what's meant by the title of this blog?yes it is true. There are different kinds of catches in cricket by which a batsman can be declared out in the game of cricket. 1)caught behind by wicket keeper. 2)Caught and Bowled by the bowler. 3)caught by fielder in any position on field. 4) Caught by a fielder at the border when the ball is not allowed to touch the ground by pushing it back to ground if the Fielder's feet is outside the fence and complete the catch by entering back in the field. Apart from all these a new kind of catches has taken birth in a match held at Sydney Cricket Ground yesterday the 1st of March 2019.

This unusual catch of cricket took place in a match between the touring women cricket team of NewZealand & the Governor General Eleven ofAustralia at Sydney Cricket ground What exactly happened is as narrated below: This unusual catch by the Bowler had happened in the 45th over ofNewZealand innings.Hither Graham of Australian Team was the bowler .She bowled to Kathy Penkins who wanted to strike the ball to the opposite boundary line.She did it.But unfortunately for NZ & Luckily for the Aussies women team the ball went straight to the non-striker's end whereKathy Martin was standing.Thevball was very fast .Kathy Matin turned away from the path of the ball to save herself from becoming a target .Had it hit her it could have been a case of serious injury.Whikevturningvto save herself the ball touched the bat in the hand of Kathy Msrtin and Rose in the air.Hither Graham the bowler did not offer a butter hand & safely accepted the catch gracefully. Although unintentionally Kathy Martin was indirectly the cause for the loss of the wicket of team mate Kathy Penkins.However Kathy Martin compensated for her error of judgement by scoring a Glorious 72 runs. Thus the Kiwis made,perhaps,a historical score of 323 runs for the loss of 7 Wickets. In reply,thecAustralian women could make just 157 runs (all out) Finally the NewZealand Women recorded a Historical victory over the Governor's Eleven of Australia. This match may not enter the History to books of international cricket being a tour match. A peculiar spider- small harmless but intelligent spider

I saw a small brown spider in the bathroom/toilet .It is seen only at night on two nights. so I began watching it regularly. It is harmless but the shape with eight legs and remaining motionless even when I put on light kept me more interesting to watch it .On the third nightYesterday I sprayed a few drops of water on it .It ran to a safer place in the corner of the wall .But the way it ran was like jumping while running.This made me more curious to know about it’s behaviour.Tonight also it appeared at the same place .it’s intention obviously was to hunt small insectslike mosquitos.To night also I sprinkled water on it.It ran and took shelter at a higher corner of the wall. Towards dawn when I put light I looked for it where it was sitting .To my surprise,I found it there but smaller in size of body with only two legs slightly pointing up.So I took a close look at it for some time .Then came the biggest surprise of my life in relation to spiders.it had observed me also and finding that I was looking at it ran away faster to the top of the wall where there is a sunshade like projection and disappeared over it. Being inquisitive to know more about the species I Google searched to find results.I got similar harmless spiders but not exactly the type which reduces the size of the body in the hiding. As it is very interesting, In this case of the spider the most surprising factor is that just the way we observe it,we are too observed by it to run away to safety. If any of the readers of this blog remembers this kind of experience ,please let me know whether there is any way to know the name of these species ,if not scientific the local name. Foot Volley Ball

Foot Volley Ball was originally began in Brazil the land of Football in 1965. The ball touch rules are basedonFootball game.But field rules are based on Beach Volley Ball. While playing the players are supposed to use their feet,Chest,knee and head alone.By following this it is as good as a football game but is played with a net in between the teams like Volley ball.Those playing football and mastered scissor cuts(rarely seen in football today to score goals.) Earlier scissor cut was a fashion when I was playing football in college. This game also has good scope for Scissor cut.Football and volley ball players can easily master this game.In fact,very interesting and require talent especially to take returns. Needs a lot of speed and control to play.But by proper training it is easy to master the game. Usually 2 to 4 players can play.Needs a lot of stamina for which regular exercises are required. A similar game is in force in South EastAsia also.it is called Sepak Takraw In Foot Volley ball there is no scope for scoring 50 or100 Hatricks like Genius MESSI because there is no scoring goals like football. The scoring pattern is purely based on volley ball. This game is not popular in India. If properly promoted this game can come up in India also.The probability of including this game now played in South East Asia in Olympics one day can not be ruled out. Today in DDSports Channel I watched a game of ladies between Thailand and Vietnam which was a thriller. This prompted me to write this Blog. Sreedharan Mundanat. 25th of February2019.

The National Panjayathi Raj Day

The National Panjayathi Raj day was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister Mammohan Singh on on 24th of july2010,the heart and soul of this decentralisation model of Governance took root with the efforts of Late Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi The concept of 3 tier Panjayath system Known as District Level,Block level and Village level was followed in Rajasthan partially,but until 1993 when Rajiv Gandhi Came up with the slogan" Power to the People" and amended the Constitution of India With 73rd act of amendment of Constitution of India on 24 the of April 1993 the concept became a reality.The day 24th April 1993 was established as a Land mark day in the History of India. This amendment when passed by both houses of Parliament the act came into existence with A Gazette notification. This enabled a large number of people namely,Women,Scheduled caste and scheduled Tribes of the rural area in beginning to enjoy the fruit of Democracy One third of Women,scheduled caste and scheduled tribes were thus recognized for reservation of seats to represent people .This amendment also assured the representation & The devlution of funds and decisionm making Right down to the villages making India the largest democracy &the most representative Democracy of the World Since then civic elections and forming of Pachatyth system of rule began in India in full swing. The Panchayats Raj day is celebrated in India on 24th of April every year after Prime Minister Manmohan Singh inaugurated it in 2010. This day is not generally celebrated by State Governments or Three tier Panchayats in India. However,the Panchayats Raj day is being celebrated in the State of Kerala on 19th of May.How the date declared by the former Prime minister of India changed from 24 theApril to 18th May was researched to find that this new date celebrated from last year is being continued as 19th of May being the birthday of former Gujrat Chief Minister Balwant Rai This year it is being celebrated on 18th and 19th of May 2019 at Thrissur the district of the Local Government Minister Shri A.CMoideen. There was many cultural programmes yesterday in various Panchayats. The allocation of funds for this purpose is being arrived at Rs4 crores approximate This is amidst the celebrations of the 1000 days of completion of the State Government.The divastating flood in Kerala was in the month of August 2018.The dramatic irony is even after the completion of 6 months the task of building houses for the victims is yet to be started while The Naval chief of Southern Naval command,Kochi who was taking interest in the rescue operations by offering Helicopters has built a house and handed over key to one Mr.Babu whom he found deserving and very much in need ofa house.

by Besides,the elements on which approximately Rs4crores were to be spent was for routine matters where no urgent need can be thought of. At least 100 houses could have built and handed overby using the money spent for Panchayat Rash days on 18Th& 19th of May 2019 in The issue alone alone by using Rs4, crores approximately. The purpose for which the amount was spent would make one think why so much money for just a Panchayat Raj day celebration The full details of celebration of the event only by Kerala state was as under: Just representatives of people,officials and ministers were to take part in the official celebrations. At lest 2 persons from 941 Village Panchayats,152 Block Panchayats,6 Corporations,14 District Panchayats,14 Dy.Directors, Directors office,the Minister’s office,together comes to approximately 2432 people. There would be at least 1000 drivers also to be added.Thus adding Miscellaneous arrivals the welcome committee at Thrissur Estimated the number of people to take part as 4000. The cost of food for 4000 people to be served at least 3 times a day for two days 18th and 19th of February 2019 would approximately work out to Rs30 lakhs. There is also a proposal to give everyone gifts worth Rs 2000/- each. The rent for Lulu Convention Hall at Puzhakkal Thrissur is 10 lakhs for 2 Days. Hotel accommodation for participants except a few from,Thrissur,Ernakulam,Malappuram&Palkkadu would work out to Rs50 Lakhs.The advance of Rs 20 Lalkhs already paid to Hotels in the city of Thrissur. It is also decided the fuel charges for vehicles are to be found from the funds ofLocal Administration of Panchayats. The TA/DA would be paid by the Government which can be availed off from the representative funds. The cultural programs relating to this Panchayth day celebrations are to be held in Thekkumkadu Maidan around Vadakkumnathan Temple. For Host districts the amount to be spent from local Panchayth branches was 20,000/-and other district branches of Panchayats was 15000/- last year.There was a special provision to spend upto 40000/-also last year. This year,however,the orders for these were not forthcoming. There was a method of saving money from the funds of certain activities to find sufficient funds for Panchayth Day celebrations.: They are 1)The state school festivals which were to be done by using 6 crores we're done by using 2 crores. 1)Bhinnashsehi(handicapped) Day and related cultural programs were not conducted.Amount saved is unknown. 3)The Keralotsavam which generally conducted by Panchayth was not conducted.Amountcsaved unknown. 4)Chalachitramela( Film festival) which is usually conducted by spending Six and half crores was conducted for Three and half crores. 5)The international Drama festival usually conducted at 2.1 crores is expected to be conducted at 95 lakhs this year. Thus the amount saved and the actual amount spent for Panchayats are yet to be made known. However an approximate calculation would indicate that there was a total savings of8.16 crores by spending less than the allowable expenses Out of this even if 4 crores allowed for the Panchayats Raj Day celebrationstge balance of savings a would be in the region of 4.16 crores. So although the change of nature of funds is not allowed under rules,the peculiar circumstances involved in this case ,the saving of 4.16 crores may now be utilized for building houses for needy people who are the victims of Flood.Althogh it is too late at least 100 houses can be constructed with immediate effect as mentioned in the beginning of this blog. There is a condition in the Government rules for spending that the funds allotted for one program in Budget can not be spent for another purpose. It would appear that the amount saved is much above the amount spent for Pachayath Raj Day ie 4 crores approximately. The details of these activities and the actual amount spent are best known to the Government alone. Altogether ,why a Panchayth day envisaged by the the former PM as 24th April as per amendment to Constitution of India was changed to 18th and 19th of February( preponed) and how the funds to such large scale was ,in fact, spent is also unlknown. Funds saved are to be surrendered. However,it should be examined whether the savings can be spent for constructing 100 houses to the Flood victims and if so actions would be necessary to be taken expeditiously. The spending of Fund meant for one purpose being spent for anotherpurpose is usually not allowed in Governmental transactions. So the approval of competent authority would be necessary to proceed further to build houses for the victims of Flood.
