The Renascence in Kerala did not begin yesterday.it began long ago ,perhaps, from 16th century.
Malayalam language and literature came into real effect from the days of Thunjathezhuthachan. Ezhuthachan is considered as the originator of Malayalam language.
He is the poet who translated the epics Ramayana and Mahabharata to malayalam language which gave the existence of Malayalam in this world.Thunjathezhuthachan is the poet who gave inspiration to change from the procedure in the monopoly of Brahminsespecially Namboodiri community.
The present day Renascence or Renaissance is the result of the efforts from many learned people like the following:
Men:ThycaudAyya,ArtsVaikundar,Brahmananda Swami Shivayogi,Chattambi Swamikal,shriNarayana Guru,Dr Palpu,AyyattenGopalan,BarristerGPPillai,Ayyankali,C.Krishnan, Kumaranaasaan,VaikkamMoulavi,Mannath Padmanabhan,SwamiVagbhatananda,Pandit Karuppan,T.K.Mahadevan,K.P.KesavaMenon,K.Kelappan,V.T.Bhattathiripad,AK.Gopalan,P Krishnapillai,Kutikkose Ellan Chavra,MampuramThangal,SahodaranAyyappan,Pampadi John Joseph, Makthi Thangal,C.V.Kunjuraman,Velukutty Arayan,Kuroor Neelakandhan Namboodirippadu,T.R.Krishna Swami Iyer,&Swami Anantha Theerthan.
Women:A.V.Kuttimalu Amma,Ammu Swaminathan,Accamma Cheriyan,Anna Chandy,LalithambikavAntharjanam,Parvathi Nenmeni mangalam,AryaPallam,Thottekkattu Madhavi Amma,K.Devayani, Lalitha Prabhu,& Mary Lucose.
All the above ladies and gentlemen respected by Keralitrs as their saviours in relation to their right to maintain equality in life and society taught us many lessons in regard to Renascence
After having achieved everything in this regard we all of a sudden this topic has come up as a major issue for Government is a mystery especially when many tasks are pending to give relief to people who had suffered from the devastating floods in Kerala in August 2018.Evenvtofayvmany people are staying in relief camps awaiting amicable solutions for their sufferings.
In such circumstances why the Sabari mala Shrine in regard to the entry of women of all ages as per Supreme Court decision has arisen iscaoeo a mystery
Supreme did not mention any specific date or urgent need for facilitating the entry of women to the shrine.
Besides,in 1991,the High court of Kerala had in a verdict suggested that the customs and rules relating to the Shrine should be strictly followed giving stress to the belief of the devotees in regard to "41 days Vrutha observed by the devotees".
This verdict of High court of Kerala relating to a case of one mr Mahindran in 1991
This fact was ,however ,not brought to the notice of Supreme coourt while an Affidavit was filed by the Government
In the supreme court. As a result of this th latest verdict by the Apex court was delivered in favour of the women entry to the Shrine irrespective of age group. This verdict obviously in relation to the fundamental right of equality for men and women.
So there is no dispute whatsoever in this regard.
But for the sake of ensuring the entry as per the Supreme court verdict available to women without any question, why the Renascence has come up needing such a big women wall to secure a trivial matter involving heavy amount of money was arranged in an era when the Renascence has no significance at all.
In the name of Renascence ,the Government and people were put to inconvenience to the extent that more needy requirement of establishment of facilities to look after people suffered from the impact of devastating floods were ignored
This, not only resulted in lack of help to victims of flood but indirectly resulted in a war between the Government and the believers of the traditional customs followed in the Shrine.
In effect riot like situation was created in the state resulting in quarrels and hartals putting common people into sufferings for reasons not not arising out of their fault in any case.
The expenses incurred by the Government from public money or from any other fund would remain as infructous needing regularisation by government .For this the total cost in terms of money will have to be worked out.
The entire exercise from Government will have to be considered as unwarranted and regularised as such.
if showing the power of women in Kerala there are many other methods than a wall which implies defensive tactics.in a state where there are many cases of atrocity on women unabated ,how can one assume a wall for defence except as a symbolic concept. For ensuring the power of women steps should be taken to provide proper education, employment, and equality in status in income withb men and such matters relating to their advancement is the first foremost step G overnment should have thought of instead of bringingb them out in the street.
